“The instrument on which I will play – the Anton Walter fortepiano made by Christopher Clarke – is from the collection of Jos van Immerseel and has been familiar to me for more than 25 years. As a teenager I got the wonderful CD-box with the complete concertos by Mozart played by Anima Eterna and Jos as a gift. Many years later I stumbled upon the instrument in a masterclass in Antwerp and some time later I got to know it better during a lecture by Jos. I could never have dreamed of playing a concert on this fantastic instrument myself, and now it’s here! It’s an instrument that unites all the qualities of Viennese fortepianos: it talks and narrates, it’s sparkling but also lyrical. Each register has its own temperament which results in a special transparency. It’s also incredible that this instrument did not lose any of its quality over the years. I want to credit both Jos van Immerseel and Christopher Clarke for this.”
