Anima returns to its roots in Monteverdi, accompanied by Monteverdians of the highest order. They’ll perform some highlights from world-class musical literature: the heart-rending “Lamento d’Arianna”, the great drama “Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda” (more relevant than ever today), and the astonishingly moving “Possente Spirto” from what may be the most beautiful and the finest opera of all time: “ L’Orfeo”. Support is assured by a number of Anima players with a feel for “Le Nuove Musiche”.
