Belcanto!
‘Beautiful singing’: is there anything more difficult to precisely define? Conductor Giovanni Antonini, an adventurer through and through, will take Anima Eterna in search of the true source of nineteenth-century bel canto. With soprano Julia Lezhneva, Antonini will spin a vocal line stretching from Mozart to Rossini: agile, full of grand arcs and at the same time smoothly dancing across the tempo. The orchestra will also explore the fluid phrasing that the bel canto stars of the past had mastered down to its tiniest details. We’ll bet that even Schubert’s Unfinished will sing as it never has before!
Anima Offstage with Marjan de Haer
Finally, a program with a harp part! That’s what Marjan de Haer must have thought. Marjan plays an original Erard double pedal harp from 1812.
