Anima Eterna Brugge and Jos van Immerseel wish you happy holidays and a wonderful 2012.
In 2012 Anima celebrates its 25th anniversary. We will do everything we can to make it an extraordinary year. As always, we welcome you at our concerts, but there is more.
This winter you will have a chance to see part of Jos van Immerseel’s collection of historical pianos during the four days of Maison Erard, an exhibition at the Concertgebouw in Bruges. In February, you can hop on the virtual tour bus waiting for you on the website. Mozart is coming over in June and in September, we will release Debussy on cd.
And we have a surprise for you. To find out what it is, please tune in for more news in February, at the start of our Debussy project.

Anima Eterna Brugge en Jos van Immerseel wensen u prettige feestdagen en een prachtig 2012.
In 2012 viert Anima zijn 25ste verjaardag. Wij doen ons best om er een buitengewoon jaar van te maken. We verwelkomen u uiteraard graag op onze concerten, maar er is meer.
U kan deze winter een deel van de collectie historische piano’s van Jos van Immerseel bekijken tijdens de vierdaagse tentoonstelling Maison Erard in het Concertgebouw van Brugge. In februari nemen we u virtueel mee op tournee via onze website, Mozart komt terug in juni en in september ligt er een nieuwe cd met muziek van Debussy in de winkel.
En dan is er ook nog een verrassing. Daar doen we opzettelijk mysterieus over. Meer nieuws in februari, wanneer ons Debussy-project van start gaat.

THE PIANIST WHO COULD NOT GO HOME
No two standing ovations are alike. Considering Pasacal Amoyel’s impressive itinerary, he might have seen all sorts. Still, he will not easily forget the way he was applauded at the Berliner Philharmonie for his performance of Liszt’s Totentanz. After eight reappearances on stage, surrounded by a glowing Anima and with a proud and smiling conductor by his side, he understood that the only thing that would soothe the roaring hall was an encore. If you were not one of the thousands (!) of listeners in Berlin, Weimar or at Bonn’s Beethovenfest you can catch up on the experience at one of our upcoming concerts in Bruges (B), Amsterdam (NL), Dijon (F) or even in Maribor (SLO) and Graz (A).
‘We’ that is: Anima Eterna Brugge, Pascal Amoyel, Thomas Bauer, Franz Liszt, Richard Wagner, Hugo Wolf and – sine qua non – Jos van Immerseel.
The 480 seats that we had reserved in Bruges for Anima’s public rehearsal on 22nd October were sold out in no time. Keep your eye on the calendar: next spring there will be another chance to witness the toiling of our musicians from up close.

DE PIANIST DIE NIET NAAR HUIS MOCHT
De ene staande ovatie is de andere niet. Gezien het indrukwekkende parcours dat hij heeft afgelegd, zal Pascal Amoyel ze allemaal wel eens hebben meegemaakt, maar het applaus dat hem te beurt viel in de Berliner Philharmonie na zijn uitvoering van de Totentanz van Liszt zal hem waarschijnlijk nog lang bijblijven. Acht keer werd hij teruggeroepen. Omringd door een trots en voldaan Anima, naast hem een lachende en tevreden dirigent. Was u niet één van de – samengeteld – duizenden (!) toehoorders in Berlin, Weimar, of op het Beethovenfest in Bonn? Geen nood: wij verkennen de komende weken de 4 windstreken met concerten in Brugge (B), Amsterdam (NL), Dijon (F), en zelfs Maribor (SLO) en Graz (A). En wij, dat zijn: Anima Eterna Brugge, Pascal Amoyel, Thomas Bauer, Franz Liszt, Richard Wagner, Hugo Wolf en – sine qua non – Jos van Immerseel.

HET PAKT MET POULENC
U had ongetwijfeld al het vermoeden dat Anima Eterna Brugge een pact had gesloten met Poulenc. De concerten van afgelopen week in Metz en Dijon, waar ook de nieuwste Poulenc-cd aan de verzamelde pers werd voorgesteld bevestigden dit verbond met verve. Dat het pact heeft ‘gepakt’, blijkt uit de staande ovatie in L’Arsenal, de laaiend enthousiaste recensie na afloop van het concert in het Auditorium en de veelstemmige appreciatie voor de gloednieuwe cd.

PACTOLE POULENC
La semaine dernière, nous avons eu le plaisir de jouer deux concerts très appréciés, à l’Arsenal de Metz et à l’auditorium de Dijon. Au programme: Ravel, Poulenc, Gershwin. Résultat: des grands sourires partout et des bonnes critiques! (à lire ci-dessous) En plus, notre nouveau disque ‘Poulenc’ a été présenté au grand public. Et – last but not least – nous avons accueilli notre 400ième ‘fan’ sur la page Facebook de Anima Eterna.

ALLEGRO CON BRIO – GELUID VAN LENTE
Het verhaal van Prometheus is oud genoeg om bekend te zijn: als overmoedig straatboefje stal hij het vuur van de goden, gaf het aan de mens en voorzag zo in het wondermiddel waarmee een technische beschaving kon worden ontwikkeld.
Anima speelt met vuur!
Prometheus werd natuurlijk betrapt én gestraft – de Griekse goden waren niet voor niks olympisch wraakzuchtig.
“Een man, waard om een ouverture aan te wijden” zo moet Beethoven gedacht hebben toen hij in 1801 ‘Die Geschöpfe des Prometheus’ afleverde.

Together with Pascal Amoyel we are looking forward to our next project with music of Liszt and Wagner. Pascal Amoyel will perform Liszt on an Erard Grand built in 1886, one of the jewels of Jos van Immerseel’s collection.
PASCAL AMOYEL: « I very much nourish my intimate and intense relationship that I have with Liszt. Performing his music on an Erard Grand is an exciting experience just like when I performed Chopin on a Pleyel with Anima some time ago.

Samen met Pascal Amoyel kijken we uit naar het volgende Anima-project met werk van Liszt en Wagner. Pascal Amoyel zal tijdens dit project een Erard van 1886 bespelen uit de collectie van Jos van Immerseel.
PASCAL AMOYEL: “Ik koester mijn intieme en bijzondere band met het oeuvre van Liszt. Het uitvoeren van zijn muziek op een Erard is een indrukwekkende ervaring, net zoals ik met Anima, Chopin uitvoerde op een Pleyel.

While there’s some justification in that choice, the most profound revolution in the history of music was initiated by Claudio Monteverdi. Around 1600, Monteverdi liberated musical emotions from their polyphonic prison, and gave them to the solo voice, which could do them proper justice.
Without Monteverdi, there wouldn’t have been any of the three B’s; neither would there have been The Beatles or the Sex Pistols. Anima Eterna Brugge’s conductor Jos van Immerseel values Monteverdi over all his fellow composers and is eagerly anticipating the Monteverdi project in November.” …
