I studied clarinet and musicology in Strasbourg. I continued my studies with Eric Hoeprich at the Royal Conservatory the Hague where I specialized in historical clarinets, obtaining my performance diploma in 1996.
I have played with numerous leading orchestras among them : Concerto Köln, Anima Eterna (Jos van Immerseel), Das neue Orchester (Christoph Spering), Orchestre des Champs Elysées (Ph. Herreweghe), Akademie für alte Musik Berlin, Kölner Akademie (Michael Willems), Amsterdam Baroque and Tafelmusik under renowned conductors such as Daniel Harding, Kent Nagano, René Jacobs and Bruno Weil. I have toured extensively in Europe, Japan, Turkey and the U.S.A and can be heard on many recordings for companies such as Deutsche Grammophon, Sony, Harmonia Mundi and Op 111.
As a soloist I can be heard on prize winning recordings such as Vivaldi „ Concerti con molti Strumenti” (Verany) and the „Sinfonia Concertante” by Josef Myslivecek (Deutsche Grammophon).
I am committed to the discovery of unknown repertoire from the 18th to 20th century. During my many years of research in libraries all over the world I have built a collection of newly discovered pieces which I am striving to reintroduce in to today’s concert life. Since 2006, I am the head of a publishing house in Cologne :
