Lisa Klevit-Ziegler

Lisa Klevit-Ziegler began her college career at Reed College in Portland, Oregon (USA) with the intention of studying studio arts. In 1976 she was awarded a scholarship for the Aspen Festival in Colorado, where she had lessons with Leon Russianoff. As a result of this experience she moved to New York to continue her studies with him, first at Brooklyn College, then at the Juilliard School, where she received her Bachelor of Music (1980) and Master of Music (1981). The next two years she spent at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis as a Fulbright Scholar, studying historical clarinets and performance practice with Hans Rudolf Stalder. Since then she has performed and recorded nearly exclusively on period instruments, with such orchestras as Anima Eterna Brugge, Les Arts Florissants, musica antiqua köln, Il Giardino Armonico, The English Baroque Soloists, Consentus Musicus Wien, Drottningholm Court Theater Orchestra, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Freiburger Barockorchester and the Orchestra of the 18th Century. In addition to her concertizing she also teaches. Last year she also became a guide for walking tours in her hometown, Lahr/Schwarzwald, and she loves to photograph, nature and architecture in particular.
