Mendelssohn in symphony

Mendelssohn’s imaginative and brilliant oeuvre stands as a milestone in the early romantic repertoire. Anima Eterna Brugge pays homage to this outstanding composer with two symphonic gems: the overture Die Hebriden and the third, ‘Scottish’ symphony. At the music stands: a delightfully diverse group of musicians performing on period instruments. At the baton: the young German chef Jakob Lehmann, who led Anima in a previously released recording featuring Mendelssohn as well. Musicologist and raconteur Pieter Bergé joins the orchestra on stage with stories about the composer and special clues that will help sharpening your listening skills.
