With the October concert Anima serves up four creations by the twenty-year-old Mozart. While symphony n°33 is infused with chamber music sparring, n°29 is pure theatre for the orchestra. The Serenata Notturna then carries the unusual arrangement of two violin groups and timpani.

In spring 2019 the Serenata Notturna and the bassoon concerto and orchestra will be supplemented by two symphonies from the summer of 1788. The doors open in celebratory style with symphony n°29, while the devilish elegance of n°40 (KV 550) shows the darker side of Mozart’s genius.

Jane Gower takes on the solo role in Mozart’s only existing bassoon concerto: playful and lyrical, with a hint of Figaro.
