Anima Eterna Brugge ushers the spring in alongside its faithful companion Ludwig van Beethoven. Exactly 10 years after the recording of Beethoven’s complete symphonies on historical instruments, we focus on what many consider to be the cornerstone of Beethoven’s orchestral oeuvre: the magisterial “9th”. We’re tackling this ‘colossus’ in two lecture performances at the occasion of the ‘Masterpiece Series’ in Concertgebouw Brugge, and pair it with the Chorfantasie at the prestigious Alte Oper in Frankfurt. Managing the baton: Korneel Bernolet – one of the young talents supported by the ‘Anima Next Generation’ program. After having collaborated with the orchestra as an assistant-conductor at several occasions, Korneel – boasting an extraordinary sensitivity to the great romantic choir repertoire – is now stepping up to be a guest-conductor for the first time. An occasion that Korneel himself, as well as Anima-founder Jos van Immerseel and all the musicians and singers involved are looking forward to!
